Certificate Programs If you enroll in our MSW program, you can choose to add a certificate in either Disaster and Collective Trauma or in Mental Health, Addiction, and the Family depending on your desired area of practice. Disaster Resilience Leadership Certificate. The Mission of the Master of Social Work Program at the Tulane University School of Social Work is to educate and inspire future social work leaders to engage in integrated clinical and community practice that is culturally responsive and relationship-centered, to enhance the well-being and equitable treatment of individuals, families, and communities.
Upon completion of their MSW degrees, graduates will go on to work in a variety of social work settings such as social service agencies, hospitals, criminal justice systems, schools, and governments. They will be prepared to work as clinical social workers in the public or private sector, locally, nationally, or internationally. Regardless of the settings, Tulane MSW Graduates will be involved in providing social services to individuals, families, and communities, developing programs and policy, evaluating programs, establishing non-profit organizations, or providing services and resources in order to enhance the well-being and equitable treatment of individuals, families, and communities.
The MSW provides a strong academic foundation in order to pass licensure, pursue a doctoral degree, or make a difference in society. The Master of Social Work program requires 60 credit hours and hours of field education.
Those granted Advanced Standing status can complete the degree requirements with 48 hours credit hours and hours of field education. This applies to full-time on-campus and full-time online programs. Our field education program exposes you to real-world social work practice as well as diverse populations and social issues. We place on-campus students with one of over agencies in New Orleans and surrounding parishes. Online learners perform their field education in their own communities, and we can facilitate placements around the country.
Our online MSW program employs innovative technology to ensure all students receive the full benefits of a Tulane education. If you elect this program, you will be part of monthly live sessions via synchronous classes.
