What your really need to be more interested in is the "installed userbase". And I doubt you can find anybody who will give you those numbers or if they do have anything to really back them up. Then you still have to consider the industry. A product might really be doing well for one industry and not for another.
Just because something works well for HOK, HKS or any other three-letter firm does not mean it works well for anybody else. If you are one of those firms or a competitor then you might take notice but if not then how can what they endorse really be right for you? And as for the shutting down of anything that is again a slick willy salesman just trying to push you onto whatever he has the best margins on and not really what is the best solution for you.
Granted I am sure there are many reputable salespersons out there but if any of them use this old and cheesy of a line then you should just tune them out then and there. Revit was bought by Autodesk in and that lame line was being touted then and still today and yet here we are with another release of ACA and another one coming down the pipeline.
