Best way to patch a wall hole

Instead, use a wet rag to clean the wall after spackling the hole. What color paint is this and where did you get it? It is the exact color of my wall and i can not find any swatches that match. Ive gotten about 30 different swatches from white to off and its a no go.

One suggestion: not everyone is a good speller, so it's a good idea to run the spellchecker before posting.

Two examples: "consistency", not "consistancy" and "palette", not "pallet". Recently I have just done such repairing for my bed room, but unfortunately it was not as smooth as you have shown here.

I was thinking for plastering as an alternative solution. But now after seeing this post I have decided to go for repairing according to your guidelines. Did you make this project? To avoid cracking, crush up some aspirin into powder, and mix it with a bit of toothpaste to create a paste.

Then, apply the toothpaste-aspirin mix to the wall and let dry. From there, smooth the surface with a putty knife, and paint right over the area with a color that matches the rest of the wall. From there, paint over the area to create a uniform surface.

Just say no to the toothpaste patch. When I shared that I was doing this over on my Instagram stories, the questions came pouring in about other types of walls. Plaster walls should be no different than drywall when patching small nail holes. Simply lightly sand the area to remove any loose bits, then fill with the spackle just as you would with drywall! When patching holes in brick walls, the best method is to mix up some mortar and patch the hole with that. If you want to be sure that the spot blends in well, you can get an extra brick that matches the color of your existing brick, then crush it up and blend with the mortar to dye it to match.

Just use a putty knife to spread the mortar into the hole and allow it to dry. If you cut corners on sanding, the repair site will be noticeable, so take your time. Once the repaired area is dry, use a fine-grit or sandpaper.

After the first round of sanding, add a second layer of mud, spreading it about 2 inches beyond the boundaries of the first layer. Once dry, re-sand. The fine particulate of drywall compound could injure your lungs if inhaled.

So always wear a dust mask when sanding drywall compound. Disposable gloves are also a good idea to protect your hands from the dehydrating effects of gypsum dust.
