As Graham says start by telling us which box you have. Judging by the symptoms I would guess that it is either a T, T or T. One of the issues on Sony Freeview stuff is the lack of 3 digit channel numbers. While the tv can support them the freeview tuner part can't so channel end up in the wrong place.
